Asphalt Surfacing Supervisor

The asphalt supervisor is responsible for planning, managing, and overseeing all aspects of road surfacing operations to ensure the successful delivery of high-quality pavement works. A key focus of the role is to maintain strict adherence to health, safety, environment, and quality (HSEQ) standards, promoting a safety-first culture and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations and specifications.
Objectives Include:
- Supervise day-to-day asphalt surfacing operations to ensure all works are delivered safely, efficiently, and in line with project deadlines, budgets, and quality requirements.
- Coordinate and direct 2 surfacing crews on site, overseeing preparation works, tack/bond coat application, asphalt delivery, laying, rolling, and final compaction to achieve the required pavement finish.
Work closely with the Allocations Manager and other site teams to plan shift activities, schedule plant movements, and maintain a smooth workflow between the asphalt plant and the job site.
Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, environmental, and quality regulations, standards, and policies.
- Monitor and control project costs, resources, and materials to achieve budget targets and maximize profitability.
- Carry out regular quality checks on site, including temperature checks, visual inspections, surface regularity checks, and compaction monitoring, ensuring works meet specified standards and project specifications.
- Maintain clear communication with site managers, tradesmen, subcontractors, and truck drivers, ensuring everyone understands the plan, responsibilities, and any changes to the program.
