The Role

The Senior Packaging Technologist leads and supports the development, testing, and implementation of packaging materials and processes. This role focuses on packaging design, packaging sustainability, as well as hands-on execution of packaging trials

This role can be located in our Sydney CBD office, or our Chadstone office near Melbourne.

Your duties could include:

  • Identify and develop the package solutions to meet the consumer, engineering, logistics and Sustainable Packaging Guidelines.
  • Lead the delivery of the packaging projects for multiple product categories
  • Ensure ongoing packaging resource planning and portfolio management, including packaging codes and specifications updates
  • Review and approve the artwork representing packaging
  • Collaborate with the quality team on the investigation process for the packaging-related issues
  • Assist manufacturing in identifying areas of improvement and support any changes to bag materials, dimensions, equipment to preserve product integrity
  • Contribute to the completion of the Annual APC Report
  • Support Procurement in managing the supplier relationships through providing expert knowledge and feedback on any areas of improvement
  • Participate and share subject matter expertise in the new packaging equipment projects

To be successful in this role you will have:

5+ years of experience of within a similar Product Packaging role, from within a FMCG or Food Manufacturing BusinessBachelor's degree in Packaging, Engineering, Material Science or related fieldTechnical mastery in Polymer Science is preferredFull working rights in Australia - No sponsorship is available for this positionMastery in the various package materials, food packaging, sustainability, product/package quality attributes, process capability, etc.Experience in the development of working processes & SOP is preferreredUnderstanding of the NPD process in FMCG or Food business is preferredProven project management skillsStrong communication and interpersonal skillsConsumer-focused mindsetDecisive – taking calculated risks and making decisionsHigh attention to details and intellectual curiosity
