Job Description
Seeking a strategic and forward-thinking Engineering Manager to lead a multidisciplinary team driving high-impact, technology-led maintenance at our Port Botany site.

This leadership role serves as the key connection between internal stakeholders and external partners, ensuring engineering initiatives are strategically aligned with long-term business goals to drive operational excellence, extend asset life, and support sustainable growth.

Key Accountabilities

  • Manage maintenance labor and contractor activities in line with workplace policies, operational needs, and long-term asset strategies.
  • Lead and drive team performance through regular one-on-one meetings, clear goal setting, and structured performance reviews.
  • Ensure departmental adherence to Occupational Health, Safety, and Environmental (OHS&E) standards and promote a strong safety culture.
  • Develop lifecycle cost models and strategic plans for equipment maintenance, replacement, and resource optimization.
  • Oversee resource allocation and expenditure in accordance with established processes and budgetary guidelines.
  • Foster a culture of reliability-centered maintenance and continuous improvement using data-driven, evidence-based approaches.
  • Provide leadership on Industrial Relations (IR) matters, ensuring effective communication, compliance with agreements, and a collaborative work environment.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned to support the overall objectives of the organisation.

Qualifications, Experience And Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related discipline (preferred).
  • 10+ years of experience in asset maintenance, industrial engineering, or terminal operations.
  • Strong technical knowledge of SCADA systems, PLCs (e.g., Siemens, ABB, Schneider), and handling equipment.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing skilled, blue-collar teams in demanding and regulated industrial environments.
  • Working knowledge of Terminal Operating Systems (TOS) and experience in port or terminal engineering operations.
  • Lean, Six Sigma training or equivalent experience is highly desirable.
