We have an exciting opportunity for a dedicated Rapid Response Officer to join our team
What You Will Do:
As a Rapid Response Officer, you will play a vital role in protecting public safety and animal welfare. You will be the first on the scene for urgent and high-risk incidents, including dog attacks, aggressive animal behaviour, and emergency animal compliance matters. Working within the Animal Management (Cats & Dogs) Act 2008 and relevant Local Laws, you will carry out complex investigations, enforce legislation, and educate the community to build a safer environment for everyone.
This is not your typical compliance role, it is dynamic, fast-paced, and meaningful. Your actions will directly impact the lives of people and animals in the Cairns region.
What We Are Looking For:
- Diploma in Local Government or related field or Certificate IV in Government (Investigations) or equivalent qualifications or extensive experience in investigations role within Local Government or other Government or enforcement role.
- Current "C" class driver's licence with the ability to independently drive between business locations to meet operational needs.
- Demonstrated knowledge of local laws, or legislation specific to Local Law Enforcement and Animal Management.
- Proven ability to interpret complex legislation and investigate regulatory offences which are the primary objective of the position.
- Demonstrated previous experience in inspection, investigation and investigative report writing in relation to breaches of local law and regulatory legislation.
- Ability to handle animals, in particular, dogs, cats and horses along with experience with animal capture techniques.
- Experience in dealing with known and unknown high-risk persons.
