The Opportunity

Maribyrnong City Council is looking for an experienced Injury and Wellbeing Business Partner to join our People, Culture and Performance Department. With a focus on early intervention and injury prevention, this role will suit a considered individual with significant injury management experience, ideally from an allied health or occupational rehabilitation background. You will work collaboratively with our leaders to support injured workers and deliver innovative injury prevention and employee wellbeing programs.

The successful candidate must demonstrate:

  • Substantial experience in an Injury Management position within a large, diverse employer supporting employees with physical and psychological injuries.
  • Sound understanding and application of case management principles.
  • Highly developed verbal communication skills including consultation, influencing, negotiation and conflict resolution.
  • Experience in data analysis and report writing.
  • Proactive approach to injury prevention.
  • An enthusiastic and progressive approach towards employee health and wellbeing.

Key Responsibilities

  • To co-ordinate all aspects of the WorkCover claims function including administration
  • Provide professional Injury and Wellbeing business partnering support and guidance to the organisation.
  • To develop and roll out the Health and Wellbeing strategy, policy and program.
  • Support the development and implementation of the system required for the Psychological Health Regulations 2025.

About You

  • A tertiary qualification in the areas of Safety, Allied Health or Human Resources with extensive experience in Injury Management in a large, complex organisation.
  • Substantial working knowledge of the Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2013, The Occupational Health and Safety Act 2004 and Regulations 2017.
  • Demonstrated experience in injury/claims management, health and wellbeing programs, early intervention and proactive injury management.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to prepare Safety and Injury Management reports, correspondence and policy.
  • Sound personal integrity, judgement, and discretion with confidential information.
