About Us

Matsa Resources (ASX: MAT) is a well-funded gold exploration and production company focused on our flagship Lake Carey Gold Project (1Moz resource) south of Laverton. Our operations cover more than 4,200 km² of highly prospective ground within the Laverton Tectonic Zone — strategically positioned between Gold Fields' Granny Smith & Wallaby mines, AngloGold Ashanti's Sunrise Dam, and Northern Star's Carosue Dam & Deep South operations.

We are now seeking a proactive and technically strong Accountant to play a key role in supporting the delivery of financial reporting, compliance, and analysis across a multi-entity ASX-listed group. This is a hands-on role offering broad exposure — from month-end close and statutory compliance to ASX reporting, project cost reporting & analysis, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Some travel to operational sites will be required.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare month-end journals, reconciliations, and supporting documentation
  • Perform GL account reconciliations and review intercompany balances across group entities
  • Prepare and review consolidated financial statements and management reports
  • Support site cost reporting and analysis of actuals vs budget
  • Review and process project cost data, contractor invoicing, and tenement cost allocations
  • Prepare and lodge BAS, payroll tax, and superannuation returns
  • Coordinate with external advisors on income tax and R&D submissions
  • Assist in preparing statutory accounts and quarterly ASX 5B reports (cash flow and related party disclosures)
  • Prepare rolling cash flow forecasts and key management reports
  • Perform FX translation and reconciliation of international subsidiary balances
  • Identify and implement process improvements to enhance month-end, reporting, and compliance workflows
  • Contribute to ERP optimisation and the enhancement of financial reporting tools
  • Assist in documenting accounting policies, controls, and internal procedures
  • Travel to operational sites as required to support reporting and engage with site teams

About You

  • CA/CPA qualified
  • Minimum 4 years' experience in financial or management accounting
  • Experience preparing half-year and full-year statutory accounts in an ASX-listed environment (highly regarded)
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS/AASB standards and group consolidations
  • Advanced Excel and ERP system proficiency
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage multiple entities
  • Excellent attention to detail and a proactive approach to process improvement
  • Candidates from audit (external or internal) backgrounds seeking to transition into industry are encouraged to apply
