The opportunity

We're seeking a Senior Recreation Facilities Officer to join the Active Communities and Assets team. This role will be responsible for managing the occupancy, operations, capital works, and maintenance of Council's major recreation and aquatic facilities, including Bayfit Leisure Centre, Altona Sports Centre, and the Laverton Swim and Fitness Centre.

What you'll do:
  • Provide a high level of service and support, including regular and clear communication with Council's recreation and aquatic centre operators
  • Act as the 'client' for capital works projects related to indoor sports centres, aquatic facilities, and other recreation projects as needed
  • Manage occupancy and service agreements for externally managed sport and recreation facilities, including indoor sports centres, aquatic facilities, and lifesaving clubs
  • Coordinate the administration of requests from user groups proposing facility improvement works to Council's major sport and recreation facilities
  • Represent, or delegate representation, at relevant committees, meetings, and workshop

What you'll need to succeed

  • Tertiary qualification in recreation, management, or a related discipline
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, negotiation, and decision-making skills
  • Excellent collaboration and engagement abilities, with a proven track record of delivering positive and effective outcomes
  • Strong report writing and briefing skills, along with high-level communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and manage, plan, and organise workload to meet project objectives within approved timeframes and budgets
  • Self-motivated with initiative, negotiation skills, and a proactive approach
