Get to know the role:

Border Express has an exciting opportunity available for a trade qualified Diesel Mechanicto join the skilled and efficient workshop team at the Tullamarinebranch. Under the direction of the Workshop Supervisor, the position will be responsible for service, maintenance and repair.

Duties:

  • Maintenance and repairs of the company fleet, trailers, and equipment.
  • Minor body repairs
  • Fabrication and welding,
  • Fault finding, trouble shooting and diagnostics;

Skills and Experience:

  • Experience in both truck and trailer repairs and preventative maintenance;
  • Knowledge of relevant truck and trailer repair and service requirements;
  • Experience in the use of air and electrical hand tools, lathes, grinders and diagnostic equipment;
  • Understanding the capabilities and operations of various vehicles;
  • Ability to manage time and meet priorities established for allocated work;
  • Willingness to work flexible hours;
  • Good verbal and written communication skills;
  • Ability to follow policies and procedures;
  • A professional and responsible attitude with a high level of motivation and
  • autonomy;
  • Heavy Rigid licence preferred;
  • A qualified car mechanic with some heavy vehicle experience or willingness to take this on may also be considered.
