About the role

Reporting to the Chief Information Security Officer, The Director, Information Security, APAC is the regional owner for all aspects of Information Security engagement and delivery. The role will support to execute on the Information Security strategy by aligning business and security outcomes through expert advice and early engagement. 

This role will be strategic advisor for all business units within region, guiding internal and external stakeholders on information security best practices, cyber security, identity access management, governance, risk and compliance, security operations, vendor management, and vulnerability remediation within a hybrid cloud and on-premise technology environment within the APAC region.

This is a hands-on, strategic and operations role with a focus on Information Security, Governance, and IT Risk, will work across several security domains and technologies to deliver control frameworks and cloud technologies. This role will be part of a multi-discipline team to ensure Information Security services are delivered to the agreed regional service levels.

In this role you will be responsible and accountable to

  • Lead the delivery of the regional Information Security strategy and roadmap.
  • Act as the primary interface between business units and Information Security, ensuring alignment between strategy, operations, and delivery.
  • Oversee divisional teams to ensure services meet regional business requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement through automation, innovation, and visibility of security practices.
  • Partner with IT, DevOps, and infrastructure teams to design and embed security frameworks across technology roadmaps.
  • Represent Information Security in risk and governance forums, including Business Risk and IT Risk Committees.
  • Provide leadership, mentoring, and development to a high-performing team of security professionals.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant standards and regulations, including ISO27001, NIST, CPS 234, SOC, and the Privacy Act.
  • Partner with IT teams and operational personnel across all MUFG Pension & Market Services business units and the wider global MUFG Pension & Market Services teams to understand business and technical security requirements, develop supporting security principles and objectives and implement appropriate changes to processes and technology to support effective business growth.
  • Work with each business unit and technology Director to ensure compliance with all relevant regulation within the various jurisdictions it operates in. Where required make recommendations and implement strategies to improve the risk profile.

What you Bring

  • 5+ years' experience in information security operations, governance, or a similar leadership role.
  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
  • Relevant security certifications such as CISM, CISSP, SABSA, or ISO27001 Lead Auditor.
  • Deep understanding of security control frameworks (COBIT, NIST, ISO27001, CPS234).
  • Thorough understanding of information security operations and governance concepts and current best practices, techniques, processes, and technologies
  • Experience with ISO27001, IT Security and Risk Assessments and exposure to a large financial services organization and an understanding of the risks of such an environment
  • Extensive experience across infrastructure domains (network, compute, and storage)
  • Proven ability to lead complex security initiatives in large, regulated environments in financial services.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, with the ability to influence across all organisational levels.
  • Demonstrated success in building and leading teams, driving cultural change, and delivering strategic outcomes.
  • Exceptional analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
