Brief Description
Purpose of the Role:
As our new Fraud Performance Analyst, you will play a key role in protecting our business and customers by monitoring fraud trends, assessing control effectiveness and driving improvements in fraud detection strategies. Alongside a strong analytical and reporting focus, the Fraud Performance Analyst will work closely with the Fraud function to optimise and scale detection methodologies, reporting and controls.

You Will

  • Develop & continuously monitor the performance of new and existing rules-based typologies and detection models to support fraud detection objectives
  • Proactively provide timely and data driven analysis and insights to better support and inform business understanding and decisions and provide recommendations of corrective actions to address business challenges
  • In conjunction with Data & Analytics teams, produce and monitor performance and operational reporting to inform decision making
  • Ensure typology analysis supports compliance with relevant legislation and regulatory expectations (GICOP)
  • Support the team in pursuing and developing new business initiatives, including defining, modelling and tracking of business case benefits and identify & provide insight into drivers of cost, productivity, trends and claims leakage
  • Support the Leadership team to define and track initiative benefits aligned with the strategic direction
  • Promote and contribute to an environment of continuous improvement and innovative thinking while encouraging initiatives and creativity in detecting and embedding fraud detection methodologies

Knowledge And Experience

  • Strong data analysis skills including SQL, Excel, Power BI, along with the ability to interpret complex data, identify patterns & clearly communicate insights
  • An understanding of fraud typologies, advantageous
  • 2 years' experience in business or fraud performance analysis, and a working knowledge of Claims Insurance business and processes
  • Demonstrated collaborative and consultative approach to work, with the ability to work both independently as well as within a small team
  • Accuracy driven, with high attention to detail and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced/ dynamic environment, with the ability to work proactively, autonomously and meet tight deadlines

Requirements
Position Accountabilities

  • Identify and provide insight drivers of cost, productivity, trends and claims leakage across Specialised Claims & Investigations
  • Support the Leadership team to define and track initiative benefits aligned with the strategic direction
  • Where applicable, engage with industry bodies and external fraud forums to share intelligence and stay informed about cross organisational fraud risk
  • Promote and contribute to an environment of continuous improvement and innovative thinking. Encourage initiative and creativity in detecting and embedding market leading fraud detection methodologies.

Responsibilities
The Fraud Typology Analyst is responsible for identifying, analysing and understanding emerging fraud patterns and typologies across various products and channels. This role supports the organisation in proactively detecting and mitigating fraud risk by developing insights, maintaining fraud intelligence and recommending strategic and operational uplift across new and existing detection methodologies. The Specialised Claims and Investigation Team's purpose is to support the Motor Claims & Assessing Division and wider Group by:

  • Developing strong fraud controls in underwriting, claims and assessing functions to deliver on risk and strategic objectives.
  • Implementing and monitoring fraud detection methodologies including rules and manual learning models in internal data to reduce and detect external fraud risk.
  • Conducting thorough investigations into suspected fraudulent claims in line with regulatory and compliance appetite.
  • Designing staff and awareness training to improve detection efforts and reduce external fraud risk
  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to maintain strong industry knowledge and support continuous improvement in fraud detection, intelligence capabilities and investigation.

Summary
Qualifications and Experience

  • Minimum 2 years experience in business or fraud performance analysis and well demonstrated commercial acumen
  • Working knowledge of Claims Insurance business and processes, understanding of the factors that influence the claims cost, effectiveness and service delivery preferred
  • Advanced Microsoft Excel Skills, Google Sheets and/or Power BI skills. Knowledge of SQL advantageous
  • Ability to translate large volumes of data into meaningful information and insights,
  • Demonstrated collaborative and consultative approach to work, with the ability to work both independently as well as within a small team
  • Accuracy driven, with a high attention to detail
  • Demonstrated aptitude to multitask in a fast-paced/ dynamic environment, with the ability to work proactively, autonomously and meet tight deadlines
