About the Role
We are excited to commence recruitment for Mining Asset Specialist to join the WA Mining Team, based at the WA Mining Hub in Pinjarra. This role will be offered on a family friendly Monday to Friday roster, with a paid day off every 4 weeks so you can spend more time doing the things you love. While you will be based at the HUB, you will be expected to attend all our sites across WA Mining from time to time as required.
The Mining Asset Specialist will report directly to the Mining Asset Superintendent. This role is a key part of the Mining Asset team, where you'll collaborate with various departments, including the Finance, Maintenance, and Operations Leadership teams. You'll work within the broader Alcoa Western Australia mining operations, contributing to a dynamic team committed to achieving excellence in the mining industry.
In this critical role, you will deliver comprehensive asset management services and provide essential on-site technical support to ensure safe, efficient, and cost-effective mining operations. As a key team member, you will directly influence the success of all Alcoa Western Australia mining operations by identifying, acquiring, and managing mining assets that are not only fit for purpose but also economically viable. Your work will ensure that our assets align perfectly with our long-term mine plan requirements
Key responsibilities include:
Act as the primary point of contact for stakeholders, providing guidance and solutions to meet the business's mining mobile equipment needs.
Take the lead in clearly defining and documenting the full life-cycle strategy for each individual mining asset. This includes everything from acquisition and deployment to maintenance and eventual disposal.
Collaborate with technical and operational teams to develop and provide detailed, precise asset specifications to the Procurement department, ensuring all acquired assets meet stringent operational and safety standards.
Manage the end-to-end process of asset delivery and commissioning. This includes overseeing the installation, initial testing, and final sign-off to ensure a smooth transition into operations.
Assist in the development of compelling business cases for new asset acquisitions or major upgrades. Your input will be crucial in justifying capital expenditure and ensuring alignment with strategic business objectives.

What you can bring to the role
Bachelor's degree in finance, Accounting, Project Management or similar – or equivalent industry experience working with Mining Fleet
Proven experience in asset management within the mining industry.
Strong understanding of mining equipment and operations.
Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
Proficiency in relevant software applications (e.g., asset management systems, data analysis tools).
Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

About the Location
Huntly is one of our two bauxite mines in Western Australia. Established in 1976 and located east of North Dandalup in WA, it is the world's second largest bauxite mine, supplying ore to Alcoa's Pinjarra alumina refinery. Bauxite ore from Alcoa's Huntly and Willowdale mines helps to produce almost half of Australia's alumina and approximately 19 per cent of Australia's aluminium.
