Project Mine Geologist

The passionate Mine Geology team at Sunrise Dam Gold Mine are currently seeking a Project Underground Geologist to join their on-site team on a FIFO 8 days on/ 6 days off roster, with a quick commute from Perth to camp and site. This is a permanent role with ongoing growth opportunities that will report into the Senior Mine Geologist.

To support the development of processes for underground mineral resource development to aid in ensuring the timely delivery of material into the mine plan.

You will be working within a large, talented, and diverse Geology team that onsite includes 20 Exploration Geologists, 15 Mine Geologists, 30 Geology Technicians and 160 drilling contractors. The role is supported by an in-house Resource Evaluation team and Technical Specialist group.

• Opportunity to work at a large scale underground operation, currently producing 2.7 Mtpa with plans to reach 3.1 Mtpa, contributing to achieving this goal.
• Gain experience with underground RC (reverse circulation) grade control drilling; responsible for both short and long-term plans to meet the goal of 18 months of GC stock.
• Identify drilling targets to extend the Life of Mine (LOM) and increase reserves and resources.
• Collaborate with the modeling and resource estimation team to improve geological data for GC and resource estimations.
• Plan, monitor and implement Mine Geology business improvement projects.
• Contribute to End of Month (EOM) reconciliation and reporting processes.
• Support the Grade Control team in GC modeling and estimation.
• Train and mentor graduates and mine geologists.
• Perform tasks in compliance with safety guidelines, procedures, and duty of care obligations as required by legislation.

• BSc in Geology or higher-level qualifications.
• Previous underground mine geology experience.
• Strong grasp of mining geology including gold sampling and assaying, geological interpretation, grade modeling.
• Demonstrated commitment to AGA values within safety, quality, and teamwork.
• Enjoys coaching and mentoring junior staff in geological thinking, interpretation and 3D modelling.
• Proficiency in MS Office, Vulcan, Leapfrog & Datashed desirable; Deswik knowledge is advantageous.
• Permanent work rights in Australia.
• Current C class Manual Drivers Licence.
• A National Police Clearance.
