Rheinmetall NIOA Munitions Pty Ltd (RNM), a joint venture between Rheinmetall Waffe Munitions and NIOA Pty Ltd has established a state of the art forging and manufacturing facility in Maryborough QLD that produces artillery shell cases and other munitions-related products for supply to the defence industry.

What are we looking for?

The Contracts & Procurement Manager is responsible for managing all aspects of the procurement process, from identifying suppliers to negotiating contracts and ensuring compliance.  This role plays a key part in controlling costs, mitigating risks and optimising the procurement processes to support the organisation's objectives.

Key Accountabilities

  • Develop and implement a procurement strategy that aligns with the company goals and objectives.
  • Identify, evaluate and select suppliers and maintain positive relationships.  Monitor supplier performance and implement improvements as required.
  • Execute procurement processes seeking expressions of interest and requests for quotation to suppliers, reviewing quotations, undertaking comparison analysis and negotiations within level of authority as directed by the Finance Manager
  • Once supplier identified, lead and execute approval briefs, purchase and service agreements including equipment supply contracts. Raise, modify & manage purchase orders for both Australian & International purchases.
  • Negotiate contracts, terms and conditions with suppliers to secure favourable terms whilst minimising risks.
  • Monitor and control cost procurement costs and ensure budget adherence.
  • Oversee inventory levels, ensuring they meet operations needs without causing excess costs.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with procurement activities, including supply chain disruptions and contractual issues.
  • Ongoing process definition, process improvement and process documentation supporting a continuous improvement culture.
  • Provide monthly reports to the management team and other ad hoc reporting as requested.
  • Provide advice to peers and Finance Manager regarding procurement and contractual terms of suppliers.
  • Develop and monitor cost-reduction strategies for the organisation, especially procurement.
  • Set-up of new suppliers and ensure supplier relations and KPIs are maintained. Monitor, engage and correct supplier performance as necessary within level of authority.
  • Develop policies, procedures and work instructions for procurement, contracts and finance as directed by the Finance Manager.
  • Work efficiently within overall shareholder group procurement organisation (Rheinmetall and NIOA), handling reporting, exchange of information and answering request as the key interface to shareholder group contacts.
  • Prepare adequate documentation (Decision templates, PowerPoint presentations) for key decision makers in the company (leadership team and management board) as directed by the Finance Manager.

Qualifications, Knowledge & Experience

  • Degree in Business, Procurement or equivalent
  • Proven experience in procurement and contract management
  • Knowledge and experience with procurement regulations and best practice
  • Knowledge and understanding of technical, mechanical and engineering terms an advantage
  • Strong negotiation, analytical and problem solving skills with above average conflict resolution skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge and experience with MS Office software
  • Knowledge in SAP is an advantage – willingness to learn and work with SAP
  • Intermediate project management and organisational skills
  • Language – English – verbal and written – above average

Additional Requirements

  • Fit to work in a sedentary role at a munitions manufacturing environment and perform the inherent requirements of this role including but not exhaustive of interaction with personnel – internal and external on occasions with competing interests, varying priorities and deadlines; physical requirements to regularly sit, stand, walk, use hands and reach with arms, talk and hear.  Occasional requirement to stoop, kneel, crouch or manoeuvre heavier items using aids.
  • Resilience and ability to work varied hours as required to achieve desired outcomes, particularly with varying time-zones of some suppliers.
  • Police/security screening checks and permanent right to work in Australia.
