We offer autonomy with accountability, space to experiment, and the opportunity to shape solutions that impact millions of learners worldwide. We don't have all the answers — and that's the point. We figure it out together. Every line of code, every conversation, every bold idea helps move us closer to our mission: to enable individuals, organizations, and society to progress. There's still so much to build — and even more to discover. Go there with us...

In this Tax Manager role, you'll be a key member of our Finance team, ensuring compliance with global tax requirements, solving complex tax issues, and supporting Go1's operations across multiple jurisdictions. If you take pride in precision, have a strong command of international tax matters, and enjoy working in a collaborative, remote-first environment, this role is a great fit. We are open to someone in Brisbane, Melbourne or Sydney.

The Role
Reporting to the Head of Tax and Treasury, the Tax Manager plays a critical role in solving complex tax issues and ensuring that Go1 is compliant with all necessary tax legislation. You'll work closely with the Accounting team to identify opportunities for process improvements and potential areas of risk, monitor changes in tax legislation, and support the business with timely, reliable updates to policies and strategy.

What You'll Do

  • Facilitate and manage the preparation and review of Go1's tax returns, ensuring accuracy and compliance with all regulations
  • Identify and address tax issues across multiple jurisdictions (including Australia and the United States), implementing tax strategies to minimize liabilities
  • Manage tax audits and prepare all required documentation promptly
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with external tax consultants and tax authorities
  • Conduct deep research on tax issues and prepare clear, actionable guidance
  • Analyze financial statements for tax implications and advise accordingly
  • Coordinate with Finance and Accounting to ensure accurate and timely tax reporting
  • Monitor tax calendars to ensure all filings are submitted on time
  • Recommend tax-efficient business practices and identify potential savings opportunities
  • Provide timely advice on matters such as withholding tax, sales tax, R&D credits, and relevant contract language

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
  • 6 years' experience as a Tax Manager or in a senior role within a Big Four public accounting firm
  • Strong experience with international tax and transfer pricing
  • Advanced analytical, research, and problem-solving skills
  • In-depth knowledge of US federal, state and local tax laws
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Outlook, Excel, and experience using an ERP (preferably) NetSuite
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure and meet tight deadlines in a remote-first environment
  • Curiosity and openness to incorporating AI into workflows to enhance efficiency
  • Must be comfortable in a remote, global environment where non-traditional hours are the norm

Join our team at Go1 and be at the forefront of transforming education through innovative learning solutions. Together, we can change the world. One learner at time.

While technical skills are important, it is just as important for us find people who will positively contribute to our diverse culture. We welcome you to apply, even if you don't exactly meet the criteria above.
