COLLEGE BACKGROUND

Mercedes College is a Catholic secondary school for girls in Years 7 to 12, governed by Mercy Education Limited and grounded in the Mercy Tradition. Situated in the heart of Perth CBD and part of the City's heritage precinct, the College was the first foundation of the Sisters of Mercy in Australia and is the oldest girls' school in Australia on the original site of foundation.

We are inviting applications for the following positions from innovative and committed individuals who will bring expertise, enthusiasm, and a passion for teaching Humanities and Social Sciences. It is essential applicants are prepared to support the ethos, values and mission of the College.

POSITION OVERVIEW:

The Humanities and Social Science (HASS) Teacher(s) will play a key role in delivering engaging and meaningful lessons across a variety of Social Science subjects, including Modern History, Geography, Economics, and Civics. They will guide students in exploring the complexities of society, culture, and the environment, fostering critical thinking and a deeper understanding of the world.

With Mercedes College located in the heart of the CBD, these roles offer a unique opportunity to bring learning to life by utilising the rich resources and real-world experiences available within walking distance of the college. Teachers will have the chance to incorporate excursions, site visits, and hands-on explorations into their lessons, creating dynamic and immersive learning experiences that connect classroom content to the real world.

HASS teachers will join a supportive and enthusiastic team dedicated to fostering a passion for Social Sciences and helping students achieve their academic and personal best. With a focus on collaboration, they will work closely with colleagues to create innovative learning experiences and support the curriculum objectives of Mercedes College in an enriching way.
