Lead Earthing & Bonding Engineer
UGL'S Engineering team designs, constructs, commissions and maintains critical infrastructure across the road, rail, building, power, water and renewable sectors. About the role
The role of Lead Earthing & Bonding Engineer is to assist with the setting of company standards and processes for the engineering teams working in these areas.The role provides technical governance and management of the engineering activities in these areas with a view of ensuring technical compliance is achieved and certification of the nominated Scopes of Work can be provided. It also provides technical leadership in the delivery of engineering solutions from initial concept to completion and verification of a nominated Scope of Work.Further responsibilities include:
Develop a thorough understanding of the overall project and effectively communicate such understanding to the applicable Project Team members.
- Provide technical design solutions for the Earthing and Bonding and EMC Packages for large infrastructure projects (mainly 25kV AC rail)
- Ability to manage and integrate earthing and bonding concepts within civil / structural / electrical designs
- Knowledge of regulatory environments and demonstrated working knowledge of EN , AS/NZS 60479, AS/NZS 4835, AS/NZS3835, AS1768, AS2067, EG0 and EG1.
- Coordinate with internal project stakeholders to ensure correct execution, in respect to the System Assurance Plan and project requirements of relevant activities.
- Ensure a common approach to design templates, interface management, design deliverables, reporting and delivery program management.
- Contribute to processes to track/ensure risk mitigation activities are effectively implemented.
Ensure that all necessary reviews, verifications and validations are planned and conducted, and the outcomes of these are incorporated into the design.
Monitor and control timeliness of outputs for all design and liaise with the management to ensure project requirements are satisfied.
Participate in design review meetings and close out design issues with reviewers in a timely manner.
Ensure compliance with all record keeping requirements.
About You
- Bachelor of engineering (preferred), or engineering science in relevant discipline.
- 10 years of experience in major transport infrastructure projects including rail
- Working knowledge of project management principles and practices.
Demonstrated ability to work independently to organise and prioritise demands, handle multiple complex tasks and simultaneously, set and meet deadlines and follow-through within a fast-paced environment with multiple and competing demands
- Strong communication skills (oral & written) including strong negotiation and influencing skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of people at different levels both internally and externally.
