Family Wellbeing Officer (Identified)

Mamu Health Service Limited (MHSL) is an Aboriginal Community Controlled Health Organisation committed to providing holistic, culturally safe, and community-driven services that strengthen the health and wellbeing of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.

We are seeking a motivated and compassionate Family Wellbeing Officer (Identified) to join our Family Services team.


About the Role

The Family Wellbeing Officer is responsible for delivering culturally relevant, strengths-based, and family-centred support services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander children, young people, and their families.

This role supports families to build resilience, strengthen relationships, and enhance their capacity to keep children safely at home. Working collaboratively with clients, community members, and service providers, the Family Wellbeing Officer provides case management, advocacy, and culturally appropriate interventions that promote safety, wellbeing, and connection to culture.


Key Responsibilities
  • Provide culturally appropriate support and intervention strategies to individuals and families.
  • Undertake client assessments and interventions in accordance with approved case management protocols.
  • Monitor and review case plan goals and assist clients to achieve positive outcomes.
  • Advocate on behalf of clients to ensure access to relevant community and support services.
  • Facilitate case reviews, evaluations, and exit strategies.
  • Build and maintain partnerships with other service providers to support shared case management and referral pathways.
  • Gather and record statistical data, contribute to reporting, and participate in review and evaluation activities.

Selection Criteria

This is an Identified position – applicants must be of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent.

  • Qualification in Community Services (Cert IV or Diploma) or equivalent experience.
  • Demonstrated experience supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and children.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to engage effectively with clients, families, and stakeholders.
  • Experience implementing case management approaches, including crisis intervention and family support for clients with complex needs.
  • Ability to plan, prioritise, and manage workload to meet deadlines.
  • Sound computer skills, including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
  • Current Blue Card (Working with Children Check) and National Police Check, or ability to obtain.
  • Current Queensland Driver's Licence and First Aid Certificate, or willingness to obtain.
