About the Role

The Community Development Officer, reporting to the Principal Community Development & Advocacy, is responsible for developing, implementing and delivering a broad range of strategic and operational community-focused programs and initiatives. These activities and deliverables will positively contribute to improving community wellbeing and sustainable socio-economic outcomes, through a collaborative place-based approach with internal and external stakeholders.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement and deliver community-focused programs and initiatives.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to improve community wellbeing.
  • Contribute to sustainable socio-economic outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Diploma in Community Services or equivalent qualification/experience working in a similar role in a medium to large Organisation.

Required Skills

  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of Community Development, particularly in areas such as: arts and cultural development; health and wellbeing; children and families; disability and inclusion; and volunteers and community engagement in regional communities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Well-developed planning, prioritisation and organisational skills with strong ability to work independently on multiple tasks to meet required deadlines.
  • High-level computer literacy and researching capabilities.
  • High proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Suite, desktop publishing, email systems, and records management systems.
  • Ability to demonstrate behavioural competencies.
  • Must hold a current "C" class driver's licence.

Preferred Skills

  • Experience in community engagement and development.
  • Knowledge of local community resources and networks.
