About the Mint

The Mint offers some of the most unique career opportunities within the public service, including roles such as:
- Coin making – polishing, laser frosting, 3D engraving, Physical Vapour Deposition hard coating, chrome plating, dies inspection and collars manufacture.
- Machinery – operate and maintain minting critical machines.
- Coin Sculpting – design coins, medals, medallions, and token, etc.
- Graphic Design – design coin packaging materials, exhibition graphics, etc.
- Engineering – technical support and manufacturing operations.
Branch and Team Overview
Information and Security Branch coordinates the IT and Security services and support to the Mint to enable the organisation to produce circulating coins, preserving the National Coin Collection and telling the stories of Australia by recognising significant anniversaries, events and organisations through coins.
Application Support team within the Information and Security Branch, is responsible for supporting the core IT applications of the Mint and works in collaboration with other IT teams within the branch to support the Mint in meeting its objectives and obligations.
About the Role
There are 2 streams for the Associate Software Analyst, one for Enterprise Services and another for Corporate Services, as covered below:
Associate Software Analyst – Enterprise Services
The Associate Software Analyst – Enterprise Services is responsible for delivering Level 1 and 2, and supporting Level 3, support services in relation to the Mint's Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) environment including the ERP itself (Epicor Kinetic), Point of Sales (Precise POS), data analytics systems and other assigned applications.
This role works collaboratively in a small team to deliver support services to the Mint for the ERP and Asset Management environments.
This role collaborates with stakeholders throughout the Mint to contribute to the delivery of the Mint's objectives under direction of the Software Analyst – Enterprise Services. This role will identify opportunities for continuous improvement, and develop and maintain processes and work instructions, to support the operation of the relevant applications.
The Associate Software Analyst – Enterprise Services also escalates issues with external support providers and may contribute to ICT project work.
Associate Software Analyst – Corporate Services
The Associate Software Analyst – Corporate Services is responsible for delivering Level 1 and 2, and supporting Level 3, support services in relation to the Mint's Electronic Document Record Management System (EDRMS), Service Desk Solution and other applications used by the Mint for internal operations.
This role works collaboratively in a small team to deliver support services to the Mint for assigned applications.
This role collaborates with stakeholders throughout the Mint to contribute to the delivery of the Mint's objectives under direction from the Software Analyst – Corporate Services. This role will identify opportunities for continuous improvement, and develop and maintain processes and work instructions, to support the operation of the relevant applications.
The Associate Software Analyst – Corporate Services also escalates issues with external support providers and may contribute to ICT project work.
The duties of this position include:
- Delivering level 1 and 2 support services for allocated applications, under direction from the respective Software Analyst.
- Expand knowledge on new technologies and continuous improvement of allocated applications.
- Contributing to ICT projects and work packages, providing technical advice and ensuring compliance with legislation, and Mint and whole of government procedures, policies and frameworks.
- Developing and maintaining application support processes and work instructions.
- Coordinating with business areas and providing information and advice to support and achieve team requirements.
- Assist the Software Analyst in identifying and testing options for different approaches for application development/configuration.
- Investigate, manage and apply authorised request for changes to applications in line with the ICT change management process.
- Developing and maintaining procedures, and documentation for level 1 and 2 services, incident resolutions and problem workarounds.
- Monitoring customer feedback, service and incidents, and updating processes and procedures based on analysis.
Security clearance
This position requires a Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearance. The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.
