About the Mint
The Royal Australian Mint is a small government agency working within the Commonwealth Government Portfolio of the Treasury. The Mint is a non-corporate Commonwealth Entity and is listed under the Public Governance Performance and Accountability Act 2013 (PGPA Act). The Mint offers some of the most unique career opportunities within the public service, including roles such as:
- Coin making – polishing, laser frosting, 3D engraving, Physical Vapour Deposition hard coating, chrome plating, dies inspection and collars manufacture.
- Machinery – operate and maintain minting critical machines.
- Coin Sculpting – design coins, medals, medallions, and token, etc.
- Graphic Design – design coin packaging materials, exhibition graphics, etc.
- Engineering – technical support and manufacturing operations.
Branch and Team Overview
Information and Security Branch coordinates the IT and Security services and support to the Mint to enable the organisation to produce circulating coins, preserving the National Coin Collection and telling the stories of Australia by recognising significant anniversaries, events and organisations through coins.
Application Support team within the Information and Security Branch, is responsible for supporting the core IT applications of the Mint and works in collaboration with other IT teams within the branch to support the Mint in meeting its objectives and obligations.
About the Role
There are 2 streams for the Data Specialist, one for Enterprise Services and another for Corporate Services, as elaborated upon below.
Data Specialist – Enterprise Services
The Data Specialist – Enterprise Services is responsible for delivering Level 1 and Level 2, and supporting Level 3, support services in relation to the management, integration and sharing of data within the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) tools, Asset Management System and other assigned applications.
This role works collaboratively in a small team to deliver Level 2 and Level 3 support services to the Mint for the ERP and Asset Management environments.
The Data Specialist – Enterprise Services collaborates with stakeholders throughout the Mint to contribute to the delivery of the Mint's objectives under direction from the Solution Analyst – Enterprise Support. This role identifies opportunities for continuous improvement, and develop and maintain processes and work instructions, to support the operation of the relevant applications.
The Data Specialist – Enterprise Services also escalate issues with external support providers and may contribute to ICT project work.
Data Specialist – Corporate Services
The Data Specialist – Enterprise Services is responsible for delivering Level 1 and Level 2, and supporting Level 3, support services in relation to the management, integration and sharing of data within Electronic Document Record Management System (EDRMS), Collection Management System (CMS), Enterprise Service Management (ESM) System and other assigned applications.
This role works collaboratively in a small team to deliver Level 2 and Level 3 support services to the Mint for the corporate systems.
The Data Specialist – Enterprise Services collaborates with stakeholders throughout the Mint to contribute to the delivery of the Mint's objectives under direction from the Software Analyst – Corporate Services. This role identifies opportunities for continuous improvement, and develop and maintain processes and work instructions, to support the operation of the relevant applications.
The Data Specialist – Corporate Services also escalate issues with external support providers and may contribute to ICT project work.
The duties of this position include:
1. Data extraction and reporting of information from authorised data sources.
2. Extract, prepare, cleanse and conduct data analysis checks using a range of tools to ensure data is accurate and reliable.
3. Under direction from the Software Analyst, support access and system management for applications which provide data reporting capabilities for business use, including the preparation of reports.
4. Expand knowledge on new technologies and continuous improvement of allocated applications.
5. Contributing to ICT projects and work packages, providing technical advice and ensuring compliance with legislation, and Mint and whole of government procedures, policies and frameworks.
6. Developing and maintaining application support processes and work instructions.
7. Monitoring customer feedback, service and incidents, and updating processes and procedures based on analysis.
Security clearance
This position requires a Negative Vetting Level 1 security clearance. The successful applicant will be required to obtain and maintain a clearance at this level.
