About the role

As a Production Quality Assurance and Stock Control Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring that products meet our quality standards throughout the production lifecycle.

You'll play a critical role in developing and implementing quality control systems that drive operational excellence and ensure sufficient stock is in place.

This role reports to the Production Manager, and in collaboration, you will be responsible for improving the production processes.

Key Responsivities

Quality Assurance

  • Review, implement and maintain a Quality Control Program for both internal and external suppliers
  • Review production policies and procedures, recommend and implement improvements to ensure compliance with our quality assurance standards
  • Collaborate with all stakeholders to ensure compliance with Tasman Tanks' quality standards and drive continuous improvement
  • Perform hands-on and visual inspections of manufactured components/finished items prior to dispatch to ensure quality and accuracy to meet project requirements.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key domestic and international suppliers to ensure quality, reliability and overall performance of products
  • Maintain up to date knowledge of relevant engineering, coatings, galvanising, and surface finish standards.

Stock Control

  • Plan stock requirements
  • Plan, coordinate and conduct annual stocktake and ongoing cycle counts
  • Maintain accurate stock levels in our ERP system (Micronet) across raw materials and finished products
  • Identify and analyse slow-moving stock to improve utilisation and reduce waste
  • Manage and report on returned items, ensuring accurate re-entry into stock

Service, Maintenance and Repair (SMR)

  • Review SMR projects and coordinate all production requirements
  • Create Manufacturing processes and source appropriate materials for all SMR projects

About You

This role will suit an experienced Production Quality Assurance and Stock Control Manager with an eye for detail and strong analytical, planning and communication skills who enjoys taking responsibility and ownership within a dynamic but stable business.

  • Trade certified as a boilermaker, fitter and turner or sheet metal (preferable)
  • Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or related field (desirable)
  • Minimum 3 years' experience working within a steel manufacturing environment
  • Able to read shop drawings
  • Demonstrated knowledge of production methodologies and experience in Production Planning within stainless steel manufacturing
  • Experience in process and procedure planning, documentation and implementation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Practical problem solver with strong analytical and troubleshooting skills
  • Exceptional interpersonal, customer service and negotiation skills
  • Ability to build strong working relationships with colleagues and suppliers
  • Proficiency with MS Office Suite (particularly Excel)
  • Experience using manufacturing ERP systems (Micronet highly regarded)
