Job Description

Melco Foods Pty Ltd is seeking a dedicated and highly skilled Experienced Quality Assurance (Food Safety) Officer to join our team in Sydney, Australia. As an Experienced Quality Assurance (Food Safety) Officer, you are an experienced professional to independently manage critical tasks and ensure exceptional food safety and quality standards with minimal supervision. The role involves checking food safety and quality checks during receival, processing, finished products, storage, and dispatch on the production floor. You will monitor and enforce GMP practices, temperature checks, allergen management, and pre-operational checks while ensuring compliance with the company's food safety manual. The role requires troubleshooting and resolving process or product quality issues, participating in external audits, and maintaining traceability information to meet SQF and customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop, implement, and manage a comprehensive quality assurance program.
  • Oversee and conduct regular quality audits/ checks of our commercial kitchen component and food production processes.
  • Participate in external audits and internal audits.
  • Establish and maintain quality control standards and procedures.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to identify areas for process improvement and product enhancement.
  • Investigate customer feedback and product quality issues to drive corrective and preventive actions.
  • Stay current with industry regulations and maintain compliance with food safety and quality standards.
  • Develop and deliver training programs to ensure our workforce is aligned with quality objectives.
  • Collaboration with QA Manager / QA Supervisor and internal stakeholders including team members to maintain compliance and address quality-related issues.
  • Responsibilities include inspecting product labels during processing and packing to ensure accuracy, investigating and resolving non-conformances, and implementing corrective actions as necessary.
  • Handle internal audits, such as GMP and brittle audits, and take part in training staff on food safety and quality topics.
  • Go through with the routine checks on factory floor, perform check the checker activity, supporting pest control programs, annual testing exercises like mock recall, food defense, and so forth, performing and managing microbiological and chemical testing programme, managing calibration programme, assist on managing approved supplier programme, label review, sensory evaluation, etc as per required.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Trouble shooting- assisting production with any product or process quality issues.
  • Raise and issue corrective action request and preventative action request if required.
  • Back up for other QA officer or QA manager or QC / CCP team members.
  • General support across the QA team as required.
  • Routine verification of QA records.
  • If necessary, perform pre-operational checks and swabbing.

Qualification Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Quality Assurance, or a related field.
  • Ideally 3-5 years of relevant experience in food quality assurance, with a background in a food manufacturing setting.
  • Knowledge of food safety regulations, HACCP, and GMP.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical abilities.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proven ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented with a strong commitment to quality.
  • Experience with quality assurance software and tools is a plus.

The successful candidate must be proactive, detail-oriented, and experienced in quality assurance, particularly in food production.
