About the Role:

We are seeking an experienced Senior / Lead Electrical Engineer to join our team in Melbourne. This role is ideal for an engineer with strong expertise in switchboards, switchrooms, and outdoor enclosures within a design or manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in leading projects, mentoring junior engineers, and delivering high-quality electrical engineering solutions across critical infrastructure sectors.

Experience in the
water industry
or broader utilities sector will be highly regarded.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the
    design, development, and delivery
    of electrical switchboards, switchrooms, and outdoor enclosure solutions.
  • Provide
    technical leadership
    across engineering design, drafting, and manufacturing processes.
  • Oversee and review
    electrical drawings, schematics, and single line diagrams (SLDs)
    .
  • Ensure compliance with relevant
    industry standards, electrical codes, and client specifications
    .
  • Collaborate with project managers, manufacturing teams, and clients to ensure successful project outcomes.
  • Conduct
    technical reviews, risk assessments, and quality checks
    on electrical designs.
  • Support and mentor junior engineers and drafters, fostering a culture of technical excellence.
  • Engage with clients, consultants, and contractors to provide
    technical expertise and guidance
    .
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives across design, safety, and manufacturing practices.

Skills & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in
    Electrical Engineering
    (or equivalent).
  • Minimum 8+ years of experience in
    switchboard, switchroom, or enclosure design and/or manufacturing
    .
  • Strong understanding of
    LV/MV electrical systems, protection schemes, and distribution equipment
    .
  • Proven ability to lead engineering projects from concept through to delivery.
  • Excellent knowledge of relevant
    Australian Standards
    (e.g., AS/NZS 61439, AS/NZS 3000).
  • Strong CAD/drafting interpretation and design review capability.
  • Experience in the
    water sector, utilities, or infrastructure projects
    (desirable but not essential).
  • Exceptional problem-solving, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
