The role for you

ARA is looking for senior electrical engineers who will need to be able to work independently and as part of a team in the following areas of industrial electrical design:

• Generation of estimate budgets & tender proposals.

• Develop and oversee electrical engineering and electrical installation projects from start to finish. Including

• Customer relations, managing expectations, satisfaction, and acceptance.

• Project management, budgeting, scheduling, and work plans.
• In-house Electrical design, including leading a team of other electrical engineers and drafting team.
• Main Switchboard, MCC/PCC and Distribution Board design.
• HV knowledge in protection, earthing and arc flash would be welcome.
• Preparation and maintenance of project documentation (FD's, Electrical lists and drawings, FAT, etc.)
• Testing, on-site commissioning, maintenance & support activities
• Customer interfacing – working at client locations all over Metropolitan Melbourne, with the occasional interstate project.

What you'll need to succeed

• Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering
• Electrical Engineering registration with Engineers Australia or Professionals Australia
• At least 10 years relevant experience working in the industrial electrical sector developing electrical designs including power and control circuits, panel building/modification, supervision, site installation and commissioning.
• A strong understanding of the design, use and integration of PLC's, HMI's, SCADA, etc.
• Experience working with VSD's and motor control.
• Working knowledge of design and implementation of machine safety control systems.
• AutoCAD/EPLAN skills; single line diagrams, motor starter schematics and loop diagrams, etc.
• Excellent technical know-how with Microsoft O/S, coupled with the ability to produce high quality technical documentation and reports including but not limited to; load lists, cable schedules, I/O schedules, scopes of work, technical specifications, etc.
• Outstanding communications skills, both written and verbal with the ability to develop strong working relationships with internal/external stakeholders.

What would be exceptional to us but not essential:

• CPEng accreditation will be highly regarded.
• Experience with the design, classification and implementation of electrical equipment installed within Explosive Atmospheres (competency training preferred).
• Design of power circuits including discrimination, cascading & arc flash analysis.
• High voltage design including protection and earthing studies.
• Experience working within the process industry including the ability to read and interpret P&ID's.
