As Manager, Policy & Regulation, you will lead regulation and policy for our gas network. In this strategic role, you'll shape outcomes by working closely with regulators, governments, and internal stakeholders.

You'll develop policy positions, take a key role in our price review strategies, and advocate for outcomes that align with AusNet's long-term vision. Your initiative will play a vital role in ensuring our gas business remains sustainable, compliant, and customer-focused in an increasingly dynamic energy landscape

With a hybrid split (Office/WFH), this role is based in Southbank, Melbourne and is part of the Gas Strategy & Regulation team.

This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to:

  • Gas Policy Development & Advocacy
  • Drive a gas policy agenda aligned with AusNet's strategy.
    Lead advocacy efforts with regulators and policymakers.
  • Regulatory Strategy & Price Reviews
  • Shape regulatory strategies and leadership engagement for price reviews.
    Guide regulation and cross-business teams to timely and high-quality submissions.
  • Regulatory Support & Compliance
  • Provide regular regulatory guidance to our gas teams.

You don't need to check every box; however, we are looking for a good combination of:

  • Undergraduate degree in Commerce / Economics / Finance / Engineering or related field is required.

  • Demonstrated experience working in complex policy development

  • Knowledge of energy markets and networks, not necessarily limited to gas.
  • Outstanding written and strong verbal communication skills

Preferred:

  • Existing relationships with key stakeholders in government or regulators
  • Strong leadership experience and proved ability to influence through others
  • Experience in price review processes for regulated utilities

Behavioural aptitudes:

  • Mature professional judgement, discipline, strong professional standards and above all, a high level of personal credibility and integrity
  • Proactive and can-do attitude, flexible, ability to work under time pressure and respond to changes in priorities
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good ability to plan, organise and consult with cross-functional and diverse background of stakeholders
