Child Australia is looking for a proactive and people-focused People & Capability Officer to join our People & Culture team.

Are you a Recruitment Officer who thrives on building relationships, supporting people, and driving capability across a growing organisation?

Child Australia is a leading not-for-profit organisation committed to improving outcomes for children, families, educators and communities. With services spanning Western Australia and the Northern Territory, we work with a diverse network of early childhood professionals to deliver high-quality programs, training and sector support.

You'll play a vital role in supporting our internal early learning and Out of School Hours Care services and the broader sector through the Thriving Futures Program, a key initiative focused on attracting, developing, and retaining quality educators.

About the Role

This is a varied, hands-on role covering the entire employee lifecycle spanning from attraction and onboarding through to capability development and offboarding. You will support both internal recruitment and external sector initiatives, providing a high-quality candidate experience.

You will:


• Partner with Hiring Managers and Centre Directors to understand workforce needs


• Lead end-to-end recruitment, including innovative resourcing and screening


• Support immigration processes and compliance requirements


• Manage onboarding, contract variations and HRIS entries


• Coordinate trainee onboarding/offboarding and reporting


• Contribute to workforce planning across services and programs


• Build relationships with external stakeholders through the Thriving Futures Program


• Champion positive workplace culture through committees such as DEI, RAP or Child Safety

About You

You'll be someone who is energised by people, processes and problem-solving. You'll bring:


• A passion for recruitment and employee experience


• Cert IV in Human Resources (or equivalent)


• At least 2 years' experience in recruitment, business development, sales or administration OR 5 years' experience as a Centre Director


• Strong communication and relationship-building skills


• Understanding of Fair Work legislation, Awards and the National Employment Standards


• High-level computer literacy and confidence in HRIS systems (Employment Hero desirable)


• Advantageous: experience in early childhood education and care or OSHC sectors
