Destination NSW is the lead agency for the NSW visitor economy, responsible for delivering the state's Visitor Economy Strategy and driving growth across tourism, events and experiences. We are seeking a contemporary and capable People and Capability leader to join our team and play a pivotal role in shaping our culture and workforce capability.

About the role:

 The Associate Director People and Capability, leads a small team of specialists to deliver programs and services that support Destination NSW's strategic and operational objectives. Reporting to the Executive Director Corporate Services, and working closely with the CEO and Department's People and Culture branch, this role offers a high level of autonomy and accountability. You will manage day-to-day people and culture operations while providing expert advice across workforce capability, performance and compliance matters, ensuring alignment with NSW Government frameworks and legislation both onshore and offshore.

You will work hand-in-hand with the CEO and senior leaders to embed initiatives that support Destination NSW's corporate and business plans, including projects that directly contribute to the state's Visitor Economy Strategy. The role will also play an integral part in guiding the organisation through change, with recruitment and workforce growth.

About you:

You bring extensive experience leading people and culture functions or programs within a complex organisation, together with a strong understanding of HR legislation, policy and payroll processes.

You will be confident in your advice, evidence-based in your approach, and willing to get into the detail to ensure compliance and quality outcomes. Your ability to build trusted relationships, influence at all levels and navigate competing priorities will be key to your success.
