Why Barpa?
Barpa Construction Services is an Indigenous commercial builder with nine offices nationwide. Founded in 2014 by a Federation of Traditional Owner Corporations and Icon, Barpa is Supply Nation certified and delivers capital works projects across Australia, supporting Federal, State and corporate programs that advance Indigenous participation.
Our name means "to build" in Dja Dja Wurrung language, reflecting our vision to empower Indigenous people and businesses through building Australian infrastructure. The Role of Project Manager
We are seeking an experienced and motivated Project Manager to join our Sydney team. This role is ideal for someone with a strong track record delivering new build commercial construction projects who thrives in a collaborative and values-driven environment. You'll split your time being regionally onsite and the North Sydney head office.
As a confident communicator and natural relationship builder, you'll work closely with clients, architects, consultants, and subcontractors to ensure seamless project delivery that meets time, quality, budget, and safety expectations.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage new build commercial projects from inception through to completion
- Deliver projects safely, on time, and within budget while maintaining the highest quality standards
- Build and sustain strong working relationships with clients, architects, consultants, and subcontractors
- Lead and mentor project teams, providing clear direction and professional development
- Develop and monitor budgets, forecasting, and cost control measures
- Ensure full compliance with HSEQ requirements and company policies
- Oversee projects ranging from $1M to $20M across Education, Health, and State Government sectors
- Demonstrate alignment with our Blueprint values and commitment to ethical, inclusive practices
- Effectively use MS Project and the MS Office Suite for programming, reporting, and project administration
Requirements:
- Degree qualified in Construction Management or a related discipline
- Minimum 8 years' experience in the construction industry, including proven experience delivering new build projects valued $5M+
- Experience within the Education, Health, or Government sectors is preferred
- Strong leadership, communication, and stakeholder management skills
- Solid understanding of HSEQ standards and compliance processes
- Proficient in MS Project and MS Office Suite
- Highly organised with the ability to manage multiple priorities and competing demands effectively
- Ability to frequently travel to regional NSW
