Join us and be part of a team that's reshaping the future of the water industry.
The Opportunity
As a Project Manager in Major Projects, you'll be at the forefront of Aquatec's Tier 1 delivery model. This is a high-impact role leading the delivery of complex design & construct projects valued at $3M–$12M, spanning odour control, chemical dosing, biogas systems and broader water and wastewater infrastructure.
You'll manage projects from contract award through to commissioning and client handover, ensuring they are delivered safely, profitably and to the highest standards of quality and compliance. This role combines hands-on delivery with strategic oversight, balancing commercial governance, technical excellence and stakeholder relationships.
Working alongside Aquatec's design, construction, commercial, and HSEQ teams, you'll play a pivotal role in driving project outcomes that not only meet client expectations but also contribute to safer, more sustainable communities.
Key responsibilities include:
- Take ownership of projects from contract award through to client handover.
- Manage head contracts (NEC4, GC21, AS4902) to safeguard Aquatec's commercial position.
- Oversee contract administration, including variations, EOTs and claims.
- Lead and mentor multi-disciplinary teams across design, commercial, HSEQ, construction and commissioning.
- Develop and manage project programs using Primavera P6 / MS Project.
- Monitor budgets, forecasts and project reporting to drive financial accountability.
- Act as the primary point of contact for clients, regulators and consultants.
- Champion a safety-first culture and ensure full compliance with HSEQ standards.
What We're Looking For
We're seeking a proven project leader who combines technical expertise, commercial acumen and strong leadership skills to deliver high-value projects that leave a lasting community impact. You'll thrive in regulated utility environments, where complexity, compliance and collaboration go hand-in-hand and you'll bring the confidence to engage with clients at the highest level while driving delivery outcomes in the field.
The right candidate will be a strategic thinker and hands-on leader, capable of guiding multi-disciplinary teams, navigating complex contracts and ensuring projects are delivered on time, on budget and to the highest safety and quality standards.
To be successful, you will bring:
- 10+ years' project management experience in infrastructure, including 3–5 years in high-value D&C projects ($3M–$12M).
- Degree-qualified in civil, mechanical, or electrical engineering.
- Experience delivering projects for regulated utilities (Sydney Water, Melbourne Water, WaterNSW, Unitywater, Wellington Water).
- Strong contract and commercial management skills with NEC4, GC21, AS4902 or similar contracts.
- Proficiency in project scheduling and reporting tools (Primavera P6, MS Project).
- Proven ability to lead and mentor multi-disciplinary teams.
- Strong client-facing and stakeholder management capability.
- Familiarity with Aconex, SharePoint, Procore, BIM, GIS, Navisworks, or AutoCAD.
- Commitment to HSEQ excellence and a safety-first mindset.
- Adaptability to manage evolving scope, risks, and stakeholder needs.
- Desirable: Chartered Engineer (CPEng), PMP/Prince2 certification, or experience turning around projects.
Be part of the change. Apply now and take the lead on projects that shape communities and safeguard the future of water.
