Operations Coordinator – Cairns Yacht Club

Cairns Yacht Club (CYC) is seeking an organised, reliable, and proactive Operations Coordinator to support the smooth running of our Club's administration, finances, events, and member services.

This role provides essential operational and administrative support to the Executive Committee, helping ensure CYC remains a well-governed, welcoming, and community-focused sailing club. Tasks include coordinating office and financial systems, assisting with event and membership management, supporting grant and sponsorship opportunities, and maintaining communication across the Club's programs.

About the Role

  • Casual position – 20 hours per week
  • (17.5 fixed hours: Mon–Wed 9am–2.30pm + 2.5 flexible hours)
  • Classification: Sporting Organisations Award 2020 – Grade 2
  • Location: Cairns Marina Office (CYC Regatta Room - parking included)

Eligibility

This position is only open to Australian citizens, permanent residents, or those with ongoing, unrestricted work rights. Due to the long-term and operational nature of the role, Working Holiday Visa holders and other temporary visa holders are not eligible to apply.

About You

  • We're looking for someone who:
  • Has strong organisational, administrative and bookkeeping skills.
  • Can work autonomously and take initiative to solve problems and prioritise tasks.
  • Communicates clearly and works well with people.
  • Can manage multiple priorities with accuracy and initiative.
  • Has experience (or willingness to learn) systems such as Xero, Square, revSPORT, Canva, and Microsoft 365.
  • Enjoys being part of a small, community-minded team.
