The Team:

The Psychology team works across inpatient and outpatient settings and across all age ranges utilising a broad range of clinical skills. The psychologist within the Metabolic team, works with other psychologists and dietitians to support consumers in the decision for bariatric surgery.   All our services work closely together to focus on delivering excellence in healthcare to achieve improved outcomes for our consumers, our workforce, and the Tasmanian community.

The Role:

The Metabolic Psychologist is a part of the Allied Health led Metabolic clinic. A usual workday can include case discussions with Nutrition & Dietetics and other Psychologists, assessment of readiness for bariatric surgery, and individual or group intervention to support patients in decisions regarding their metabolic journey. The role can also work with people with complex chronic medical conditions, including diabetes, and is an exciting opportunity to work with a broad range of health practitioners.

The Metabolic psychologist is also a valued member of the Hospitals North Allied Health Psychology Team. The psychology team is small but mighty with a broad range of experience and treatment modalities. The team live the Hospitals North CARE (Compassion, Accountability, Respect and Excellence) values encompassing work life balance, professional development and case mix.

Details of appointment:

Permanent part time, day worker position, working 38 hours per fortnight, as soon as we can onboard you.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Salary: $110,425 to $x121,907 pro rata per annum. Our Employer 12% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Allied Health Professionals Public Sector Unions Wages Agreement 2022

Salary Packaging:

You'll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

Allowances:

  • Please note that access to salaries beyond $119,290 is subject to qualifications and/or application to the personal upgrade scheme

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Professional Development Allowance of up to $1000 per annum

Eligibility:

Successful applicants will be required to meet the essential criteria.

  • Tertiary qualification/program of study approved by the Psychology Board of Australia
  • Registered with the Psychology Board of Australia
  • Where required for a particular role:

Area of Practice Endorsement ie, Clinical Psychology, Clinical Neuropsychology, Counselling Psychology, Community Psychology, Educational and Developmental Psychology, Forensic Psychology, Health Psychology, Organisational Psychology, or Sport Psychology

Registration/licences that are essential requirements of this role must remain current and valid at all times whilst employed in this role and the status of these may be checked at any time during employment. It is the employee's responsibility to ensure that registration/licences remain current and to advise the Employer if their circumstances change. This includes notifying the Employer if a registration/licence is revoked, cancelled or has its conditions altered.

Applicants should note the following criteria are desirable:

  • Significant professional experience in complex medical environments providing psychological services for patients with medical Metabolic/Bariatric needs
  • Endorsement by the Psychology Board of Australia as a Health Psychologist,
  • Clinical Psychologist or Clinical Neuropsychologist
  • Post graduate degree in Health Psychology, Clinical Psychology or Clinical Neuropsychology
