Mosman Rowers is seeking a passionate and experienced Head Chef to lead our kitchen team. We desire someone resilient and adaptable to change, with a solutions-oriented approach to challenges, eager to leave their creative mark on a modern Australian menu with a seasonal focus. As a prominent venue with an engaged local community, we need a candidate who combines culinary excellence with strong operational discipline.
Your Responsibilities:
- Lead and oversee the kitchen team to ensure consistency, high quality, and efficient service
- Create and execute seasonal menus and daily specials that reflect our venue's identity
- Oversee food safety, stock management, costs, and build relationships with suppliers
- Train and mentor junior staff to foster a positive back-of-house culture and promote staff retention
- Maintain effective communication with front-of-house to deliver seamless service
Our Ideal Candidate:
- Holds full Australian working rights
- Has at least 3 years' experience as Head Chef or a strong Sous Chef ready to step up, with proven leadership skills
- Possesses excellent communication skills and confidence leading by example
- Holds or is willing to obtain Food Safety Supervisor certification
- Has a solid understanding of kitchen finances, including COGS, labor, waste, and stock control
- Remains calm under pressure, solution-oriented, and committed to quality
- Works effectively within a team environment
