Project Overview:

Pluto Train 2 is the expansion of a second LNG train at the existing Pluto LNG onshore facility near Karratha in Western Australia run by Woodside Energy. Pluto Train 2 will process Scarborough gas and have an LNG capacity of ~5 million tonnes per annum. As part of the construction of Pluto Train 2, additional domestic gas infrastructure will be installed to increase capacity to ~225 Terajoules per day. Woodside Energy has selected Bechtel to deliver the Engineering, Procurement, Construction and Commissioning scope of work for Pluto Train 2. Woodside Energy is Australia's leading natural gas producer, and Bechtel is excited to be working with this key customer to help meet the increasing global demand for LNG as a transitional energy source.

Job Summary:

The Instrumentation and Control System Field Engineer will report to the Lead Instrumentation and Control System Field Engineer. This individual is responsible for providing technical assistance, direction, and support to field supervision for construction and installation activities, Loop Checks , Instrument Tubing Pressure Testing , System Walkdowns , work on SIS , PCS , FGS, Bentley Nevada , Analyser system's , EEHA Inspections , coordinate with other disciplines for vendor package instrumentation equipment and materials. Must be willing to work a flexible schedule if required, including, but not limited to nightshift, split shift, or day shift.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Integral part of the Electrical and Instrumentation (E&I) Field Engineering team.

  • Reviews material receiving reports and performs material receiving inspections

  • Interpret and implement Standard Work Process Procedures, Project Specifications and Procedures, applicable codes, and drawings to ensure that construction installation requirements are met

  • Perform in progress and final quality and completeness inspections of Electrical, EEHA and Instrumentation installation

  • Develop punch lists and monitor completion of punch items.

  • Ensure completed work packages and ITRs are submitted to Turnover.
    • Develop Installation Work Packages (IWPs) as per the project standard template, containing relevant installation methodologies, drawings, inspection and test plans, and inspection and test records.

  • Issues material requisitions for the purchase of permanent plant material.

  • Prepare and disposition Request for Information (RFI's), Field Change Documents (FCD's) and Non-Conformance Reports (NCRs). Collaborate with design engineering through to final disposition.

  • Coordinate with engineering to resolve E&I design and constructability issues.

  • Track and coordinate construction/ field engineering closure of E&I RFI's/ FCD's/ NCR's.

  • Provide technical assistance to superintendents, field engineers, subcontractors, foremen, and craft professionals.

  • Assist with the development of People Based Quality (PBQ) training material, conduct PBQ surveys and training sessions.

  • Assure that proper material storage exists at all site locations to ensure environmental protection

  • Responsible for Electrical and Instrumentation quantity take-off's, control, verification and reporting installed quantities.

  • Maintains As-Built Records.
    • Completes Engineering Inspection Requests.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • University/B.S degree in a relevant engineering discipline is desired but may be waived if equivalent industry experience can be demonstrated.

  • Minimum of 10 years' experience in Instrumentation with solid background in Electrical and EEHA.

  • Experience with Electrical Hazardous Areas (EHA) and Australian Standards.

Required Knowledge and Skills:

  • Must demonstrate understanding and working knowledge of applicable industry codes and standards.

  • A certificate or Statement of Attainment from a Registered Training Organization (RTO) on competency unit: UEENEEM080A is preferable.

  • Experience in Module Yard LNG construction is preferred.

  • Understanding of applicable work processes including Standard Work Process Procedures.

  • Knowledge of Universal Plant Viewer is preferred.

  • Computer literate in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.

  • Excellent communication and problem-solving ability

Additional Information This position has responsibilities that include exposure to changing environmental, construction, and operational conditions, which may include: extensive walking in and around an active construction and/or operations site, climbing ladders, working at heights from work platforms including scaffolding, and mobile elevating work platforms (MEWPs), use of personal fall arrest equipment, walking and working on uneven surfaces, working in constricted and/or confined spaces, variable work shifts (e.g., day, night, weekends, 1st, 2nd, 3rd shift, etc.), and work in inclement weather. Some lifting may be required. Candidate must be able to use standard issued Personal Protection Equipment (PPE) required for each assigned task (i.e. respirator, harness, life vest, hearing protection, etc.).The Pluto Train 2 Project is a Major Hazard Facility meaning this is a non-smoking site and no tobacco products – i.e. cigarettes, vapes, lighters, tobacco - are permitted to be brought to the site. Mobile phones and other personal electronic devices – i.e. wireless headphones, iPads, smart watches - are also not permitted on site.

This position is available to both local and non-local personnel. For non-locals (FIFO/DIDO), the working roster is 3/1.
