Create your best future and join Westpac as a Senior Associate, Economics
What's the role?
This is your opportunity to join one of Australia's most respected economics teams, supporting the Chief Economist and contributing to the insights that shape decision-making across the Westpac Group. Based in Sydney, this full-time role places you at the heart of economic forecasting, financial market analysis and customer engagement.
You'll help produce high-impact publications, deliver presentations, and generate fresh, data-driven insights on the Australian and global economies. You'll work closely with internal stakeholders and external customers, translating complex trends into clear, actionable intelligence. It's a high-profile role in a tight-knit team where your ideas will be heard and your growth supported, including through media training and opportunities to build your public profile.
What do I need?
To thrive in this role, you'll bring a mix of analytical sharpness, communication flair and a genuine interest in the economy, financial market trends and their real-world impacts. This ideally includes:
- Strong analytical skills and a solid grasp of economic data, forecasting methods and financial market dynamics.
- Confidence in presenting and communicating complex ideas to a range of audiences.
- Experience using Python, Macrobond or similar tools, or the ability to learn quickly.
- A collaborative mindset, with the creativity to generate new insights and the initiative to follow them through.
A degree in economics and at least 2 years' experience in economic analysis, forecasting or policy work.
Why join us?
We're obsessed with becoming our customers' #1 banking partner for life and we're looking for people who are passionate about helping us achieve that goal. In return, we're committed to making Westpac the best place to work in the country. Here are just a few of the ways we're already doing that:
- Special offers on banking products and discounts from top brands, including generous employee-only mortgage rates
- Flexible work arrangements to help you achieve a greater work/life balance, and a variety of leave options including Culture, Lifestyle and Wellbeing leave.
- Tailored learning and development opportunities to help your grow your career within the bank.
Lots of opportunities to 'give back' to the Community by getting involved in our many volunteering initiatives.
