
State Operations and Sales Manager

Are you a dynamic leader who thrives on driving results and building high-performing teams? We're looking for an exceptional State Operations and Sales Manager to take the helm of our painting and roofing operations across the state.
This role offers the perfect blend of strategic oversight and hands-on leadership for someone ready to make a real difference.
You'll have the autonomy to lead both sales and operations, working directly with diverse teams including technicians, sales professionals, and subcontractors.
Every day brings new challenges: one moment you're strategising to smash sales targets, the next you're on-site ensuring world-class project delivery.
What success looks like:
- Revenue and margin: Hit monthly turnover targets and maintain agreed gross profit.
- Delivery: On-time job completion with quality sign-off and zero critical defects.
- Safety: 100% WHS compliance and documented site checks.
- People: Lift team engagement and onboard new hires to full competency inside 90 days.
- Rhythm: Clean pipeline, clean schedule, clean closeout. Every week.
Sales
- Manage the sales pipeline from lead to won.
- Focus your sales skills on conversion, quoting discipline, and follow-ups.
- Review KPIs weekly and adjust tactics fast.
Operations
- Plan statewide schedules, resources, and subcontractors.
- Run site visits and quality checks against AS/NZS and company standards.
- Keep the job management system accurate in real time.
- Oversee fleet maintenance, equipment readiness, and compliance.
People and admin
- Recruit, onboard, and review performance with BrightHR.
- Approve timesheets, monitor payroll accuracy, and manage leave.
- Manage suppliers, purchase orders and invoicing.
- Be agile to fix issues to do with sales, delivery, safety, and cash.
- 5 plus years in operations and sales leadership, ideally in construction, painting, roofing, or trades.
- Strong people leadership and coaching skills.
- Commercial discipline with CRM, Xero, and Office 365 confidence.
- White card and full driver's licence. Working at heights is a plus.
- Australian work rights.
