About the Role:

As the site Environmental Advisor, you will play a key role in managing all groundwater and surface water related matters across the Meandu Mine. You will work closely with site operations and the environment team to ensure best practices in water management and regulatory compliance.

Key responsibilities:

• Fulfilling statutory compliance requirements
• Delivery, management and implementation of groundwater and surface water monitoring programs to meet Client obligations
• Reducing environmental risks associated with compliance limits and managing site specific (water relevant) environmental programs
• Sample collection, technical report writing, data collation and analysis/interpretation (e.g. trend analysis) and reporting for statutory obligations
• Managing contractors

About You:

• Tertiary qualifications in Hydrogeology/Hydrology, Water Chemistry, Environmental Science or similar discipline
• 2+ years' experience undertaking groundwater and surface water monitoring programs, ideally in a mining environment
• Operation, basic maintenance and servicing of groundwater monitoring equipment
• Sound knowledge of water sampling methodologies and bore construction
• Knowledge of Queensland environmental legislation, standards and management systems
• Good communication and relationship building skills
• Strong technical background and experience in environmental monitoring and data management
• Strong capability in data analysis and interpretation, project management and reporting

Meandu Mine

BUMA Australia provides a total mine service to Stanwell Corporation's Meandu Mine to deliver coal to the adjacent Tarong power station. We are responsible for both managing and operating the mine.

Services provided include planning, drilling, overburden removal, coal mining, coal processing, rehabilitation, and maintenance of mobile and fixed plant. The project uses a combination of dragline and truck-and shovel operations. Meandu Mine currently has five working pits, with sufficient coal to fuel the stations until at least 2037.
