Toowoomba Toyota is a dynamic employer in the local area and currently has an opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced safety professional to join the team.

About the Role

The main focus of the Workplace Health & Safety Officer (WHSO) will be to observe, assess and report on the safety performance of Toowoomba Motors Pty Ltd and keep records and develop procedures that meet safety guidelines that ensure the safety of staff and workplace compliance.

The WHSO will also serve as the Fire Safety Advisor for Toowoomba Motors and also be responsible for the management of maintenance requirements for the business.

Key responsibilities and requirements

  • Provide Workplace Health & Safety expertise, guidance and advice to management ensuring legislative obligations are met.
  • Identify hazards and risks to health and safety arising from work.
  • Provide at least yearly reports on identified risks and recommendations to senior management.
  • Record keeping and compliance as required by legislation.
  • New employee induction for Workplace Health & Safety requirements.
  • Use of "Risk Lab" portal to ensure House Insurance requirements are met.
  • Ensure compliance with Fire Safety Regulations QLD, while also having or be willing to acquire qualifications to act as Fire Safety Advisor.
  • Organise and maintain first aid training for relevant staff.
  • Organise and maintain maintenance requirements for the dealership.
  • Prepare and maintain Environmental Excellence submission in accordance with Toyota Guidelines.

Experience and skills required

  • Accredited Workplace Health & Safety qualifications. Certificate IV in Work Health & Safety (BSB41419) or higher level tertiary qualifications may also be eligible for WHSO certification.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent computer and clerical skills with attention to accuracy
  • Friendly, professional manner
  • Sound knowledge of the Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to work productively unsupervised
  • Honesty and Reliability
  • Commitment to Toowoomba Motors goals and operating standards
  • Current and valid Queensland Drivers Licence
