About the role

Based on site at Ironbark No.1, reporting to the Electrical Engineering Manager, your key responsibility as Shift Engineer is to coordinate all planned maintenance activities and unplanned activities to ensure shift safety and production targets are delivered.

Key Responsibilities include

  • Ensures that maintenance schedules are achieved in accordance with the weekly and daily plans and all statutory work is completed.
  • Ensure that the mine priorities are complied with.
  • Provides feedback as to the quality of the planned work and leadership to the shift trades.
  • Sample auditing of maintenance work to achieve the required standard.
  • Drives a culture with the shift trades of identifying faults and correcting them before they become downtime.
  • Drives a culture of identifying the root cause of downtime in particular drive the completion of 5 Why's for production disruption or unplanned downtime.
  • Provides technical support to the shift trades.
  • Manages and raises breakdown work orders, new corrective work orders and communicates work to process coordinators.
  • Reallocates labour and equipment as required to maximise safety and production on shift.
  • Reacts to and controls breakdowns and provides technical support to the Shift trades.
  • Drive and initiate the process delay escalation procedure.
  • Initiate contingency work when required.
  • Debrief all trades before they finish shift.
  • Brief the oncoming shift as to the state of the mine and progress of any ongoing tasks.
  • Provide a comprehensive shift report of all Electrical activities on shift.

About You

  • Electrical trade qualification or Electrical degree/diploma
  • Significant previous experience working in Outbye, Development or Longwall operations
  • Demonstrated History of working safely
  • Commitment to the achievement of business goals and outcomes
  • High level reasoning ability and problem-solving skills
  • Be able to effectively plan and priorities tasks
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Be able to work well within a team
