Join Solution Steel, a leading name in structural steel fabrication and installation, working on landmark commercial and industrial projects across the region.

We're looking for someone who combines technical precision with practical know-how — an estimator who not only understands the numbers but also how steel comes together onsite.

Reporting directly to the Director, this is a key role within our business, offering the opportunity to be part of a respected, high-performing team.

What You'll Do

  • Review and interpret client drawings, specifications, and scope documentation to prepare accurate, compliant tenders.
  • Apply your practical knowledge of erection methodology, cranes, access equipment, and site labour to produce realistic costings.
  • Prepare clear and competitive quotes, estimates, and proposals that align with client expectations and Solution Steel standards.
  • Liaise with suppliers and subcontractors to obtain accurate and competitive pricing.
  • Identify value-engineering opportunities and potential project risks early.
  • Coordinate estimate preparation, programme and sequence works, and contribute to tender strategies.
  • Maintain a strong focus on quality, accuracy, and deadlines, ensuring every submission reflects Solution Steel's reputation for excellence.

What You'll Bring

  • Minimum 5 years' experience in estimating within the structural steel or heavy fabrication industry.
  • Strong understanding of construction methodologies and practical knowledge of site operations.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and a solutions-focused mindset.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Formal qualification in Engineering, Construction, or a related discipline (preferred).
  • Strong numerical, analytical, and computer literacy skills.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively across teams — from the workshop to senior management.
  • Commitment to Safety, Quality, and Continuous Improvement.
  • Australian work rights required at time of application.
