Canberra-based Project Manager - NV1 Clearance Required

Contract to 30 June 2026 | Full-Time | Government Client

We're working with a Federal Government agency preparing to transition its ICT services from an internal setup to a shared services arrangement with another department. They're seeking a skilled and steady Project Manager to lead this critical change.

This role isn't just about keeping things on track, it's about leading strategy, managing risk, and guiding both internal teams and external relationships through a complex ICT transition. You'll also provide ongoing technical and operational support to the agency's small but capable ICT team.

A key responsibility of this role will be identifying and prioritising the ICT services to be transitioned. This will span a broad range of areas, including application support (such as Microsoft Office, business systems, and corporate applications), end-user services (including service desk, IT equipment, training, and remote access), and core enterprise infrastructure like networks, storage, and backup. The scope also includes cyber security functions, governance, user education, and threat response, as well as communication services such as email, internet, telephony, and video conferencing.

What you'll be doing:

  • Leading the full project lifecycle for the ICT services transition
  • Developing and executing an ICT strategy that aligns with broader business goals
  • Managing stakeholder relationships across departments, ensuring strong communication and trust
  • Supporting the internal ICT function, overseeing daily operations, team performance, and service continuity
  • Advising senior stakeholders with clarity and confidence, particularly around systems security, continuity, and vendor management
  • Ensuring the agency's IT systems and data remain secure and reliable throughout the transition
  • Managing project budgets, timelines, and resources while ensuring quality and value for money

What we're looking for:

  • A proven track record in successfully delivering ICT projects in the public sector
  • NV1 security clearance (must be current)
  • Experience managing ICT transitions or shared service implementations
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, able to bring people on the journey
  • Financial oversight experience, including budgeting, forecasting, and reporting
  • Ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders, technical teams, and external providers

This contract runs full-time through to 30 June 2026, with the potential to extend. It's a fantastic opportunity for someone who thrives in complex environments and understands the nuances of public sector ICT transformation.
