About the Association

As the peak body for purebred dogs in Western Australia our mission is clear: to preserve purebred dogs, welcome sporting dogs, promote responsible dog ownership, and foster the health and well-being of all dogs.

The responsibility of breeding quality dogs that are sound in mind and body is one that our Not-for-Profit Association and its members take very seriously. The Association provides more than a dozen sporting activities for our members and their dogs, ranging from Obedience to Lure Coursing, and Scent Work to Sprintdog.  We have an activity for every type of dog.

About the Role

Based at the Association's purpose-built facility, we are looking for an inspiring leader with experience in not-for-profit, recreation/sport management, or membership Associations, with strong financial acumen, and a proven track record in strategic planning, stakeholder engagement and advocacy.

The role reports to the President of the Association and key accountabilities for the role include:

·      Managing the overall administration of the Association

·      Planning, managing and reporting on financial matters

·      Overseeing the preparation and review of budgets, revenue, expenditure and investments

·      Managing the Association's significant assets

·      Leading, managing and developing staff and fostering effective customer service

·      Championing innovation in events, education, member services and digital transformation

·      Representing the Association to Government, public, media and other affiliated bodies and business organisations

·      Pursuing marketing and digital engagement initiatives, income diversification and digital engagement

·      Ensuring compliance with all relevant Legislation, Dogs West Constitution, Regulations and Codes of Practice

·      Fostering and developing relationships with Members and affiliated bodies

Skills and Experience

To be successful in this role you must have:

·      Resilience in a multi-tasking role

·      Experience in a high level of customer service and engagement

·      Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal

·      Sound financial acumen and understanding of financial metrics

·      Strong technology skills and awareness

·      Experience in the leadership and development of a small multi-skilled team

·      Demonstrated report and policy writing experience

·      Flexibility to participate in some afterhours work where required
