The Practice

ASPECT Studios is a purpose orientated, design led landscape architecture and urban design practice. With operations across Australia, Asia and the Middle East, our studios believe in the power of design to positively change people's behaviour and lives, the environment, and the planet.

Through spatial and interpretive design, our Wayfinding and Interpretation team reveal the unique stories and histories of places to create meaningful connections for all, bringing together the tangible and intangible through a diverse spectrum of project opportunities including place design / landscape architecture, storytelling and interpretation, environmental graphics and integrated public art, place identity and branding.

Our team believes in the importance of creating a studio environment where an openness to new ideas and collaboration sits in partnership with deep knowledge and expertise.

The Role

Our Wayfinding & Interpretation studio is seeking an experienced designer with a visual communication background to join our team full-time. The role involves working both in-person and virtually with the Wayfinding & Interpretation team, as well as collaborating globally across all ASPECT Studios.

The ideal team member will have experience working on small, medium, and large-scale projects and a minimum of 3-5 years working within a dedicated wayfinding and signage practice. They will be a strategic thinker - a self-starter who loves to problem solve, with a creative flair - who can work independently and enjoys being part of an interdisciplinary and collaborative team. Organisation, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to communicate clearly with peers and stakeholders are a must.

Required skills and experience includes:

  • A skilled visual communication designer with a strong background in environmental graphics, and a passion for typography and information design with outstanding portfolio of professional design experience
  • Knowledge of user-centred design principles and the ability to incorporate user feedback into wayfinding solutions
  • Strong analytical skills and strategic design thinking
  • Excellent communication skills – professional English, written and verbal
  • Experience producing design reports and preparation of wayfinding elements and outputs with a strong capability to contribute across all stages of a wayfinding project—from initial strategy and concept development through to final implementation.
  • Experience collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams on a variety of project typologies.
  • Ability to effectively manage your time to ensure assigned tasks are completed efficiently and on time.
  • Advanced Illustrator and InDesign skills as well as other Adobe Creative Cloud, visualisation software and Microsoft Office.
  • Demonstrated spatial awareness and ability to conceptualise in 3D, with proficiency in AutoCAD and other 3D software packages; signage documentation skills using CAD tools or similar are also advantageous.
  • Experience liaising directly with clients and assisting to manage small projects
  • A degree in Visual Communication or other relevant design discipline.
