Our vibrant café and kitchen at Palm Lake Care Bargara is looking for energetic, customer-focused team members to join our Hospitality Casual Pool. This flexible pool of staff supports our café and kitchen services year-round, with increased shifts available over the Christmas and New Year holiday period. This role also has the potential to transition into a small Part-Time (PPT) position for the right candidate.

About the RoleReporting directly to the Chef Manager & our Service Manager Support, you will be an integral part of the team responsible for preparing and serving nutritious and attractive meals to our residents. You'll work closely with our Cook and hospitality team to ensure meals are plated and presented beautifully, morning and afternoon teas are served, and the kitchen maintains the highest level of cleanliness.
Your role will be varied – from food preparation and plating to light cleaning, and providing friendly café service to residents and guests.
Key Details
- Kitchen Duties: Meal preparation and plating, portioning desserts, assisting with the preparation and serving of nutritious and attractive meals for residents, and rotating food stock.
- Food Preparation: Making sandwiches, wraps, paninis, and other light snacks.
- Tea & Coffee Service: Supporting the service of morning and afternoon teas, plus general café service for residents and guests.
- Barista Skills: Highly regarded but not essential – training can be provided.
- Shifts: A mix of AM and PM shifts available, including weekends and public holidays.
What We're Looking For
- Experience in basic food preparation and safe food handling practices
- Ability to assist with meal plating and maintain a clean kitchen environment
- Excellent customer service skills, with a warm and engaging personality
- Team player who can also work independently
- Barista/café service experience is highly regarded
- Current Food Safety Certificate (advantageous)
- Previous hospitality, café, or aged care experience (desirable)
