The Role

We are looking for a Legal Counsel who will play a critical role in providing legal guidance and support to our Government and Defence (G&D) Division. The successful candidate will work closely with the executive team and various verticals within G&D to ensure compliance with laws and regulations, manage legal risks and contribute to the achievement of Toll's and the G&D Division's business objectives.

As a Legal Counsel you will be responsible for providing legal support and advice across the G&D Division. This will include assisting on contract reviews and negotiations, international regulatory monitoring and negotiations, and providing quality and timely legal support to the G&D Division.

This position is a full-time role, with flexible work from home options.

Please note this position can be based in Brisbane or Canberra.

Key Responsibilities:

• Autonomously review, negotiate and draft contracts, in line with Toll's preferred positions;
• Collaborate closely with the G&D Division's commercial and operational teams to understand the requirements in the service industry when considering legal issues;
• Actively support the strategies, initiatives and processes outlined by the Lead Counsel to drive the achievement of legal objectives for the G&D Division;
• Track and monitor international corporate and regulatory requirements;
• Contribute to Toll Group-wide legal projects and support of other Toll Group lawyers where requested;
• Reporting to Lead Counsel.

Qualifications

• Between 1 - 4 years' post qualification experience - we want you to grow and learn with the team;
• Excellent communication skills;
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast paced environment;
• Law degree and current legal practicing certificate in Australia;
• Previous experience working with Government and Defence contracts would be an advantage;
• A background in Aviation or Procurement would be highly regarded;
• High level of integrity and ethical standards.
