Senior Legal Counsel| Brisbane | Hybrid Working (50/50)

A leading organisation in the technology and software space is looking for an experienced Senior Legal Counsel to join their Brisbane team on a 2-year fixed-term contract. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys partnering closely with the business, influencing commercial outcomes, and working across a variety of complex customer and technology agreements.

The Opportunity

You'll be the go-to legal partner for commercial matters across the region, supporting teams involved in major digital, cloud and software projects. Your work will be varied, from negotiating enterprise agreements to advising on operational issues, all within a global, fast-moving tech environment.

This position offers the chance to work alongside senior leaders, contribute to key commercial pursuits, and shape the legal frameworks that support the organisation's growth. It's a role well suited to someone who is confident, solutions-focused and enjoys navigating the challenges of the technology sector.

Responsibilities

  • Leading negotiations for software, cloud, SaaS, subscription and professional services agreements
  • Providing practical commercial advice to support tenders, proposals and customer engagements
  • Reviewing and advising on procurement, consultancy, subcontractor and partner agreements
  • Supporting general legal matters such as compliance, employment queries and governance issues
  • Collaborating with colleagues across Sales, Operations, Finance, HR and Procurement
  • Contributing to legal process improvements, templates and internal training
  • Managing interactions with external advisers, regulators and subject-matter experts
  • Tracking key contracts, risks and commercial positions across the region

About You

  • Extensive experience, around 10 years, in commercial law, ideally with exposure to software, IT or cloud-based services
  • Strong commercial negotiation capabilities and confident drafting skills
  • Ability to operate independently while maintaining strong relationships with internal stakeholders
  • Comfortable working across borders and managing competing priorities
  • Sound judgment, business acumen and an interest in technology-driven environments
  • Capable communicator who can simplify complexity and guide decision-making
  • Prior experience in top-tier private practice or an established in-house legal team
