*About the role*

The Local Laws and Animal Management Team is within the Compliance Operations Unit and is part of the Amenity and Compliance branch. Other teams within the branch include Parking and Road Safety, Business Support, School Crossings and Prosecutions.

The Local Laws and Animal Management Team contribute to the safety and amenity of the municipality through the provision of information, assistance and advice to the community, and the enforcement of Acts, Local Laws and Regulations.

The Team Leader Local Laws and Animal Management is responsible for providing high-quality leadership, administration, customer service and technical support across the team. You will be responsible for guiding, coaching, training and motivating a team of officers to achieve team objectives as well as providing strategic direction through data analysis, case reviews and implementing improved ways of working.

Working both individually and as part of a larger team you will need to be self-motivated, organised, have high attention to detail and able to work with conflicting priorities.

Shift times vary from 07:00am to 18:00pm during the week with participation in the afterhours (on-call/stand by) program as part of a designated roster, and other overtime duties as required.

*Skills and experience require to perform the role*
  • A current Australian driver's license (required)
  • Proven experience in leading people, including day-to-day supervision, development of work and development plans and providing constructive feedback.
  • Experience in the application of municipal local law, Domestic Animals Act including evidence collection and note-taking, and conflict resolution and court procedure is required.
  • Able to analyse and assess team performance against team targets and identify improvement opportunities.
  • Superior customer service skills and demonstrated experience delivering service excellence in a similar role.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of, and experience of ways to engage with people to achieve open communication and collaboration.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage time, including setting priorities, planning and organising one's own work to complete assigned tasks.
  • Experience in planning and delivering enforcement services.
  • Demonstrated computer skills in Microsoft Office software applications.
  • High level of personal integrity
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation
