Osborne Richardson continue to bring exceptional Compliance and Community Enforcement roles to the market all over Australia and we are incredibly excited about a great new Local Laws Officer role in one of Western Melbourne's local councils.

This opportunity will initially run until January 2026, with huge possibilities of extending beyond this. 

A typical day as Local Laws Officer may look like:

  • Enforcing relevant Acts, Regulations and Council's Local Law.
  • Providing compliance / regulatory information and education to the community.
  • Identifying breaches in the Local Law and issuing appropriate enforcement notices.
  • Resolving enquiries and complaints using the customer response system.
  • Patrolling the community to facilitate compliance with relevant legislation.
  • Preparing standard documentation regarding potential prosecutions and attending Court, to give evidence as required.
  • Undertaking animal management duties as required.

Experience is required for this role, so we're looking for people who have:

  • Certificate IV in Government (Statutory Compliance),Certificate IV in Animal Control and Regulation And/Or related experience in a regulatory environment requiring daily contact with a broad cross section of the community in a variety of issues.
  • Demonstrated ability to comprehend and interpret acts and regulations and decide on an appropriate course of action.
  • Sound negotiating and conflict resolution skills.
  • The physical ability (strength, fitness and agility) and experience to without assistance, catch, restrain, load and unload animals such as dogs, cats and assist if required with goats, sheep, cattle and horses for transport.
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare reports relating to the role as and when required.
