We are currently seeking a qualified Therapy Assistant to facilitate therapy and lifestyle programs for our residents across two of our Aged Care Homes, Bethanie Subiaco and Bethanie Gwelup. Bethanie Subiaco is a 112 bed luxury facility with an active social calendar that provides a full range of aged care services including dementia support. Co-located with a retirement village, Bethanie Gwelup is home to 112 beds across two floors, including a dementia specific wing, and has been designed and built to maximise our residents' enjoyment and wellbeing.

We are looking for someone with a passion for working with people of all abilities and backgrounds. Our Therapy Assistants have an enthusiastic and creative approach to their work and are able to support and cultivate our residents' strengths and interests.

An important component of this role is the ability to work autonomously and facilitate individual and group therapy sessions independently. You will be able to work under the guidance of a Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist, while also being confident in using your initiative and creative thinking to ensure sessions run smoothly.

This role is offered on a casual basis to cover leave and other absences, and as such does not have a set roster. The successful applicant must have some availability on week days - particularly Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays. We expect to be able to offer at least two shifts per week across both sites.

About You

We are looking for someone who thrives in a role where every day is different, and who are passionate about supporting meaningful engagement with people of all abilities.

  • Certificate III or IV in Allied Health Assistance (or equivalent)
  • Previous experience in a Therapy Assistant role, ideally in an aged care or other health care environment
  • Demonstrated experience working with residents with advanced dementia would be an advantage
  • Ability to communicate clearly in both a verbal and written capacity with care recipients, families and team members
  • Ability to work as part of a team as well as individually
  • Willingness to uphold the Mission, Vision and Values of The Bethanie Group
  • Willingness to obtain relevant vaccinations
  • Current NDIS Worker Screening Check or National Police Clearance (or willingness to apply for one)

The Role

  • Implement therapy and lifestyle programs for individual residents and groups
  • Adapt activities to resident's level of function under the guidance of a Physiotherapist or Occupational Therapist
  • Address a variety physical and psychological needs and provide opportunities for meaningful engagement for residents
  • Maintain accurate documentation, both paper and computer based
