Grassports Australia provides our customers with expert design, project management and construction of synthetic sports surfaces; from single backyard tennis courts to multi-lane cricket facilities and international FIFA certified soccer complexes.

We work with each customer (private individuals, schools, clubs, councils and builders etc) to tailor the best solution for them. We focus not only on delivering a quality finished surface that meets their needs (its performance, playability and appearance), we also ensure the subsurface is properly prepared and constructed. And we do all this while focusing on delivering an enjoyable customer experience from the time we receive an enquiry, through to and beyond project handover.

Role Overview

The role of Senior Foreman in the Grassports business is a critical one. The ability to deliver projects for Grassports clients on time, on budget and to the quality expected by not only the client, but by Grassports, is key to our success. A Senior Foreman has responsibility for all delivery aspects of a Grassports construction project. The role requires excellent project and people management skills. The Senior Foreman has specific oversight of safety, environmental and quality management on the Grassports project under their responsibility, including overseeing legal compliance.

Grassports Senior Foremen pay attention to detail, have an ability to problem solve, have a proactive mind set and a desire to embrace responsibility for the delivery of every aspect of a project. They lead by example and assist in the development of other Grassports Foreman as well as all other on-site crew members.

The role of a Grassports Senior Foreman is both a challenging and rewarding one.

Your Primary Responsibilities

1. Ensure the safety of yourself and others at all times.
2. Supervise each assigned project and meet the agreed budget program and quality standard.
3. Supervise the work of all on-site human resources including Grassports employees and sub-contractors.
4. Arrange all resources (Grassports employees, sub-contractors, equipment, machinery and materials) to deliver assigned projects in accordance with program and budget, including the call-up of stock and materials on assigned projects in line with Grassports agreed timelines to ensure on-site activity optimized.
5. Confirm materials delivered to site accord with contract specifications, project requirements (both as varied) and as ordered.
6. Raise need for variations to contracted quantities or design with Construction Manager & / or Operations Manager as soon as a potential variation is identified.
7. Manage the full installation of synthetic surfaces to Grassports / manufacturers specification and ensure all required line markings accord with approved drawings and the appropriate governing bodies dimensions.
8. Train Grassports on-site personnel in safe, efficient work methods and use of machinery and ensure compliance with Grassports Machinery Operating Policies.
9. Maintain a clean, neat and orderly worksite at all times, including ensuring all Grassports on-site personnel present to site in Grassports branded attire that is in good condition and their footwear is also in good condition.
10. Ensure adherence to the Grassports OH&S policy
11. Maintain professional and courteous communication with customers, fellow employees and suppliers at all times.
12. Adhere to the Grassports Integrated Management System policies and procedures.
13. Identify potential hazards and manage appropriate solutions to address, reporting any incidents, hazards and non-conformances to Construction Manager and Operations Manager.
14. Ensure all documentation, credit card receipts, WHS paperwork etc. are submitted as required, time sheets for all relevant personnel on each site are completed and approved daily, and all Grassports operational policies and procedures are complied with.
15. Ensure full legal and other compliance on each assigned Grassports project site.

To be successful in obtaining this role, your attitude and willingness to learn will be more valuable than previous experience in a similar role. But, it is essential that you have the following:

• Relevant trade qualification or equivalent industry experience.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and to execute finished products in accordance with such.
• Knowledge and demonstration of current workplace safety laws.
• Understanding of quality management and environmental considerations.
• Excellent people management and leadership skills.
• Ability to build and maintain workplace relationships.
• Possession of a current valid driving license, working with children check and white card.
• Previous experience installing similar materials and using machinery, power tools and hand tools.
• Relevant machinery tickets and competencies.
• Current First Aid Qualification.

It would also be advantageous if you happen to have:

• Project Management qualifications.
• Trade certificate in Landscaping or Construction.
• Demonstrated people management and leadership skills.
