Established in 2023, the company operates Shamalis Cafe and Restaurant at 39 Clermont Street, Emerald, and Shamali's Cafe and Bistro in Roma.

Both venues offer diverse menus featuring steakhouse dishes, pizza, and seafood, catering to a range of dietary preferences with dine-in, takeaway, and delivery options. The company is dedicated to delivering quality dining experiences across regional Queensland. Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and cook a wide variety of meals according to established recipes and presentation standards.
  • Ensure consistency in taste, portioning, and visual appeal of dishes.
  • Plan and develop menus, including seasonal specials and dietary-specific options (e.g., vegetarian, gluten-free).
  • Supervise kitchen staff and delegate tasks effectively to maintain smooth operations.
  • Train and mentor junior kitchen team members to uphold kitchen standards.
  • Maintain a clean, hygienic, and organised kitchen environment.
  • Follow food safety and hygiene standards, including proper storage and temperature control.
  • Manage kitchen inventory and stock levels, ensuring timely ordering and efficient stock rotation.
  • Monitor food costs and reduce waste through portion control and efficient use of ingredients.
  • Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure timely service and guest satisfaction.
  • Ensure all kitchen equipment is used correctly and maintained in good working condition.
  • Adhere to workplace health and safety regulations and standard operating procedures.
  • Handle feedback and make adjustments to dishes or service as necessary.
  • Stay updated with culinary trends, techniques, and best practices.

Skills and Experience :

  • Certificate III or IV in Commercial Cookery (from a registered Australian training provider)
  • Minimum 1 year of experience working in a commercial kitchen environment
  • Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene practices (including HACCP)
  • Ability to manage kitchen operations and lead a team under pressure
  • Creativity in menu planning and food presentation
  • Excellent time management and multitasking skills
  • Familiarity with dietary requirements and allergen management
  • Stock control, ordering, and food cost management
  • Effective communication and teamwork
  • Ability to train and mentor junior kitchen staff
  • Flexibility to work weekends, holidays, and split shifts
  • Understanding of workplace health and safety (WHS) standards
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-volume environment
  • Passion for food, innovation, and continuous improvement
  • Experience with Australian cuisine or multicultural dishes is an advantage
